Volunteers

Volunteer Program: Volunteers are individuals who seek to learn from and actively participate in the internal and external operations of the AFRJ in specific capacities and on defined projects. All volunteer positions are unpaid. The duration of the volunteer term is determined between the volunteer and the AFRJ.

Volunteers understand, intend, and agree that they are volunteers, and that any services they perform are solely in a volunteer capacity, and that they will not be entitled to any compensation. Volunteers further understand and agree that they do not and will not become an employee of AFRJ for any purpose by reason of the services they are volunteering.

Location and Hours: Volunteer hours are flexible and may vary - to be determined by the volunteer and the AFRJ. Volunteers may be required to work remotely at times, under the close supervision of their supervisor.

Equipment Requirements:

  • Computer and Webcam
  • Access to your own secure internet connection
  • Microsoft Word and Excel 2007 or later
  • Telephone for work related calls

Interns

Internship Program: Interns are individuals who seek to learn from and actively participate in the internal and external operations of the AFRJ in specific capacities and on defined projects, typically as part of an academic program. The duration of the internship is determined between the volunteer and the AFRJ.

Interns understand that this internship is unpaid. If the Intern would like to receive educational credit for the internship, the AFRJ will work closely with the Intern to complete any requirements from the Intern's educational institution.

The Intern and AFRJ agree and acknowledge that the internship is for the primary benefit of the Intern, that the Intern is encouraged and advised to ask questions and learn about all aspects of AFRJ and non-profits in general, and that the Intern will work closely with their supervisor at all times. The Intern further acknowledges that they are not guaranteed a position of employment before, during, or after the internship.

Location and Hours: Interns will work alongside the AFRJ staff for up to 20 hours per week. Given the nature of the work, hours are flexible and may vary. Interns may be required to work remotely at times, under the close supervision of their supervisor.

Equipment Requirements:

  • Computer and Webcam
  • Access to your own secure internet connection
  • Microsoft Word and Excel 2007 or later
  • Telephone for work related calls
